Space Timeline

Our project is a big step in the exploration of space, but it wouldn't be possible without these people and events:

Sputnik 1

In 1957 the Soviet Union put the first artificial satellite in space. This began the age of a new frontier for exploration.

Yuri Gagarin

Once again, the Soviet Union set the record as they put the first man, Yuri Gagarin, into space in 1961.

Apollo 8

In 1968 the U.S. stepped up to the plate and launched Apollo 8 which orbited the moon on Christmas Eve.

Apollo 11

In 1969 the U.S. launches Apollo 11 and Neil Armstrong becomes the first person to walk on the moon.

Skylab

In 1973 the U.S. takes another big step and puts Skylab into orbit which was the first space station.

International Space Station

In 2000 the world came together and completed the International Space Station which housed people for 4 months.
